San Francisco Remodel
Whole Flat Remodel Focused Around a New Kitchen
An Edwardian era flat in the Russian Hill section of San Francisco was remodeled to merge the kitchen, dining and living areas into a common space with generous light and views. After removal of one wall and carving through another, three small rooms now contribute their best characteristics to a larger composition. The kitchen, which was previously dark and constricted, now enjoys sunsets and views across the dining and living rooms. A wall of cabinets in the dining room blends into the open side of the kitchen, while maintaining its identity as built in furniture. Nearby, the main bathroom was remodeled and a half bath and laundry were added by squeezing them in along a remodeled hallway spine that runs the length of the flat.
